In 1968 the Archivio Segreto Vaticano launched the series Collectanea Archivi Vaticani that published the tools and aids produced by the Archives’ staff and other qualified scholars to facilitate consultation of the archives, as well as editions of documents and particular studies closely related to the content or history of the Archives.
Over the years other series have been published, including Littera Antiqua, the main series of the Vatican School of Palaeography, Diplomatics and Archives Administration.
In addition, for many years the Archivio Segreto Vaticano has provided researchers with digital photographic reproductions of units of the oldest collections of papal registers: the Registra Vaticana, the Registra Avenionensia, the Registra Supplicationum and the Registra Lateranensia
This initiative is part of a wider, ongoing programme of digital acquisition extended to all the collections of papal archives and aimed at preserving the invaluable originals.
